Swap a plant, art or clothes at the Culture Night Swap Meet

We are what we choose…
And sometimes those choices can be hard to make, especially when there are not that many options available. When it comes to sustainability, the crew at Cork Clothes Swap are easing that burden with regular events down the Marina way, with monthly swaps, demos and pop-up repair cafés to help us reuse and upcycle our wardrobe.
Now, the group is organising a big shindig for Culture Night 2022, inviting people to not only swap clothing but also plants, art and crafts as well as educating us with demos, self-guided walks, and a natural dying expo.
“We are joining some great groups and artists in Cork for Culture Night on September 23rd from 5.30pm-8.30pm at Scala Retreat and Conference Centre,” said the Cork Clothes Swap crew on Insta.
Swappers can immerse themselves in the sustainable lifestyle with a self-guided tour around the Scala gardens where they can follow the Sustainable Goals Trail, dive through the racks at the clothes, plants and art swap and learn about all this slow fashion at the upcycling demos.
Bring along your favourite-but-fraying clothes to the repair cafe too, where bigger items like bikes and appliances can also be serviced.

Participants will learn about the beauty of ‘natural dying’ with a wonderful dying demo by eco-artist Ashleigh Ellis, as well as an exhibition by Silvio Serverino who will help you “experiment with material waste” at the venue.
Top off the evening with some yummy food and you’ve got a recipe for a great night out infused with a new enthusiasm for eco-living.
Culture Night SDG trail, Art Exhibition, Clothes Swap, and Repair Cafe takes place Friday, September 23rd from 5.30pm-8.30pm at Scala Retreat and Conference Centre. You can register for the event on Evenbrite here.
