If you’re a fan of Mermaidcore, stop what you’re doing.

Gather ’round for news of an event so delightfully bonkers, that you’ll be phoning your mates like, “OMG, HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE MERMAID LIFE DRAWING?!”

Who doesn’t secretly fancy a go at sketching a mermaid?

Now, as part of Kinsale Arts Weekend 2024, you can give it your best shot in a relaxed setting …  all for just €12.

Just announced as part of the weekend line-up (July 11th to 14th), workshop leader and artist Alexis Bannerman and fellow mermaids will cohost and guide the lesson on Thursday, July 11th, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at The Merchant Princess of Kinsale gallery and art shop in The Glen, Kinsale.

Alexis ( AKA ‘the Siren of Sandycove’) is not just a real-life mermaid, but also has four years of experience specialising in life drawing so you’re in good hands if you’re a newbie. All materials will be provided too.

“We are so proud of this year’s programme. The artists have truly answered the call of the sea.” said Chairperson of Kinsale Arts Weekend, Anna Mulcahy.

“While the name Kinsale is known across the world, we are, at our core, a small coastal community with a global outlook. The sea inspired that world-view and it now inspires a culture of creativity. This festival draws in well-known artists and provides a launch pad for those who are starting out.”
