Cork City Centre is set for a lively weekend of food, music, and family fun this summer as South Main Street transforms into a giant pedestrian-friendly festival space for a special Open Streets event.
Running from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, August 15th and Sunday, August 16th, South Main Street and surrounding areas will be closed to traffic, giving visitors the chance to wander, relax, and soak up the atmosphere in the heart of the city during Cork on a Fork Festival.

The Festival Market will spill out across South Main Street, Tuckey Street, and Grand Parade, with stalls showcasing Cork food producers, local crafts, and artisan makers. Live music and street theatre performances will keep the streets buzzing throughout the day, while families can enjoy plenty of free activities for children.
The Festival Cooking Demo Stage on the Grand Parade will host of demos and tastings all day, celebrating the best Cork chefs and producers.

Tons of fun for kids
One of the big attractions is expected to be the pop-up Rumleys Farm, where little ones can meet a variety of animals right in the middle of the city. Giant games, face painting, and other family-friendly entertainment will also be on offer across the weekend.
Organisers say the event is all about creating a welcoming, community-focused space where people can enjoy the city at a slower pace without the usual traffic and noise.
The event is supported by Open Streets, a net-zero city pilot project aimed at encouraging more sustainable and people-friendly public spaces.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
