Somebody erected this brilliant tribute to Cillian Murphy on St Patrick’s Street
This is amazing.
As the world continues to celebrate all things Cillian Murphy following his Oscars triumph on Sunday night, one clever local artist has been hard at work on a very local tribute.
Spotted by the local photographer Peter O’Toole today on St Patrick’s Street, a lone red star has appeared on the wall outside the former Debenhams building.
With a simple gold frame and a small icon of a film camera, it says just two words: Cillian Murphy.

“Whoever made this incredible star for Cillian’s Oscar win and hung it up outside Debenham’s on Panna deserves a round of applause themselves!” the photographer posted on social media.
“It’s the epitome of the sense of humour the people of Cork have! You can’t help but smile when you see it.
“Should Cork City Council @corkcitycouncil stick a real star in the streets for our hero, @cillianmurphyofficiall?
“What do you all think?”
We quite agree.
