Sir Bob Geldof was spotted enjoying soup and a toastie at this family-run Cork hotel

You never know who you might run into in Cork.
Irish singer-songwriter and political activist Sir Bob Geldof has been soaking up the scenery and enjoying local hospitality in Fermoy and West Cork this week.
Geldof, accompanied by his wife Jeanne Marine and friends Conor and Mareta Doyle, were among the guests at the historic Ballyvolane House in Castlelyons.
The group enjoyed the renowned hospitality of the Fermoy venue and were happy to pose for photographs with owners Justin and Jenny Green before continuing their West Cork visit.

Yesterday the I Don’t Like Mondays singer headed to West Cork, stopping for lunch at O’Donovan’s, a seventh generation family run hotel in the heart of Clonakilty’s Main Street.
“Sir Bob was in town today with his partner. Casually dining on our homemade vegetable soup and a tasty toastie! Nice to meet you.” the O’Donovan’s team shared on Instagram.
So, quite a pleasant Monday after all.

Sir Bob at 75
The Boomtown Rat star, whose mother Evelyn Weller was born on Princes Street, Cork city, recently spoke to RTÉ’s Brendan O’Connor ahead of his 75th birthday later this year, opening up about how his life has been defined by grief.
Tragically, his ex-wife Paula Yates died in 2000 and his daughter Peaches passed away 12 years ago at the age of just 25.
“It does erupt. I’ve been stopped at traffic lights, for example – this happened the other day – and suddenly, Peaches was there. She was with me, and I wept,” he said. “I wasn’t really aware I was weeping. I wasn’t sobbing, just tears that she was there.”
