Romantic date or proposal? Shandon Tower opens for Valentine’s evening climbs

What a spot for an important question.
Cork romantics are invited to treat their other halves to an extra special Valentine’s view this year – St. Anne Church & Shandon Bells and Tower are opening up for Evening Climbs.
You can climb Shandon Tower, topped with the gold salmon weather vane, and one of the most iconic buildings on the Cork City skyline, on February 13th and 14th, 2026.
There are 132 steps in total to reach the viewing balcony with interesting features on each floor, including ringing the bells and seeing the mechanism of one of the largest caged clocks in Europe. You also get to climb through a belfry, where the six tonnes of bells ring out, on your way to a spectacular view of Cork City.

Constructed in 1722, the building has a significant number of steps so do consider factors such as physical fitness and mobility before heading up there.
Spaces are limited and pre-booking required (from €6 per adult here).
