Planning a closet clear-out?
You can trade your favourite pre-loved items for some new choices this weekend, without contributing to the scary volume of unwanted ‘fast fashion’ textiles in Ireland’s landfills.
Yoga Loft is hosting a pop-up Swap Shop on Sunday, July 26th at their studio on Monaghan Road, Ballintemple.
As well as adding to the vast volume of textile trash that ends up in landfill and incinerators every year (225,000 tonnes of clothing annually in Ireland, according to Oxfam) fast fashion also contributes to water waste; dyeing fabric is responsible for 20% of the world’s water pollution.
How to get involved
“After four months in a tracksuit(or pyjamas) a fresh haul of ‘preloved’ clothing is exactly what we need!” said the organisers.
“We will be accepting items (male and female), max five, from 1pm with the swapping starting at 1.45pm. Any items left at the end will be available free to a good home. We will be sticking to HSE guidelines (masks welcome) and please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.”
Swap shoppers are asked to only bring clothing that is in good condition, as well as a €2 donation to Penny Dinners.
