One of Cork’s most iconic pubs just installed a modern new feature

Well, well, well.
There was a time when the only thing you could plug in at the Idle Hour on Albert Quay was yourself — into a stool, for the evening.
Now, in a gesture that may or may not be fully appreciated by their regulars, the venerable Cork bar has installed eight USB charging points along its timeworn counters.
The idea, apparently, is to lure the laptop tribe down to the Docklands watering hole to hammer out spreadsheets between sips of Beamish. We’re all for it, although it might be tricky to explain your new digs at the weekly Zoom with HR in California.
It’s a big step for the bar, which is housed in a building where not much has changed since 1850.

“Working at home? Working in the office? Much more fun working at The Idle Hour.” the pub management posted on social media.
“Eight USB and power points now up and running.”
Bring your MacBook, take a high stool, order a Murphy’s. TBH it’s one way of making the office more bearable and you might find you’re twice as productive.
