Everything tastes better by the sea.
But if you’re in the market for something a little fancier than sandy sandwiches today, a gourmet food truck will be serving up a tasty menu on Dunworley Beach.
If you’re lucky enough to nab a day off on a Thursday you can head for the coast (Google Map directions here) where chef Caitlin Ruth will be setting up her mobile kitchen for dinner from 4pm.
Here’s what’s on the menu:
- Shredded BBQ lamb on a fluffy bun with lime slaw, pickles and lovage ranch (€12)
- Sesame rice noodle salad with crispy tofu, greens, pickled carrot and daikon (€11)
- East Ferry Free-Range Chicken with basmati rice pilaf, chard, fermented chilli sauce and za-atar (€12)
- Homemade black and white pudding (vegan) in a flatbread with fresh tomato ketchup, Gilly’s leaves and pickled red onion (€10)
Drinks include rhubarb lemonade and a Dirty Horchata, Caitlin’s take on the traditional Mexican drink with vanilla and cinnamon.
Ruth gained a reputation for serving sensational seafood at Deasy’s Restaurant in Clonakilty over 16 busy years. Her food truck, which opened last year, is the beginning of a new adventure in pop-up dining for the award-winning foodie.
Bring your togs and a towel and take a dip beforehand (guaranteed to fire up your appetite) then head out for a long stroll along the cliffs afterwards to work off your alfresco feast.
Sounds like the perfect day trip to us.
