It’s a challenging time to be expecting a new arrival.
Still, it’s baby business as usual at Cork University Maternity Hospital, with a few important new rule updates to help fight the spread of coronavirus.
Today, the CUMH issued new information to patients, advising that women preparing to be induced or in labour can have only one nominated visitor.
For all other antenatal and postnatal inpatients, no visitors are allowed – no matter how badly Nana and Granda want to see the new addition.
Only one parent is allowed to visit a baby in the Neonatal Care Intensive Unit for now, as healthcare professionals double down on efforts to protect mums and babies from becoming ill.
