The name translates as ‘once in a lifetime’.
But if you’ve been hankering for an excuse to make a second visit to Takashi Miyazaki’s Michelin-starred Sheare’s Street restaurant ichigo ichie, now is the time to book.
On Tuesday, February 4th, 2020 the Japanese dining room will host a special dinner paired exclusively with sake selected and introduced by its sake supplier Yuichi Hashimoto of JFC UK Ltd.
Each phase of the elaborate dinner will be paired with one of six different sakes, ranging from chilled to warm and from delicate and bright to rich and savoury.
“With a selection ranging from the gently warmed, smooth and mellow Hakkai san, Tokubetsu Honjozo to the single pasteurised smart, bright and chewy Gokugetsu, Junmai Daiginjo with its crisp fruit flavours, and the cedar barrel-aged Choryo Yoshino, Suginotaruzake, drunk from the traditional Japanese cedar cup or masu, to enhance the woody, peppery elements of the flavour, this is an opportunity to sample a series of confident food-friendly sakes as they should be experienced — matched with delicious food.” they told us.
Tickets for the event aren’t cheap at €195 a head, but guests will be treated to the full 12-course, seasonally inspired kaiseki menu at ichigo ichie partnered with six fine sakes, introduced by Yuichi Hashimoto.
