Met Éireann’s Christmas Eve forecast delivers more festive cheer for Cork

It’s as good as it gets for December in Ireland.
Met Éireann’s latest forecast is bringing some welcome festive cheer, with Cork set for a mostly dry and settled run right through to Christmas Day — a rare enough gift this time of year.
Tomorrow, Tuesday starts off a bit murky, with fog around for many early on and lingering in places through the day.
There’ll be a few sunny breaks trying to break through, but it’ll be mostly dry, with just the odd bit of light rain or drizzle, mainly near the coast. Temperatures will feel reasonable for December, reaching 6°C to 10°C, with light northeasterly breezes.
Christmas Eve is shaping up nicely. It’s expected to be largely dry, with only a few light showers or spots of drizzle. Any sunshine is most likely to appear in the afternoon, with highs of 6°C to 9°C and light to moderate easterly winds, a bit fresher along exposed coasts.
And for Christmas Day itself? Pretty decent by Irish standards. Expect a mix of cloud and sunny spells, mostly dry with just the odd light shower. Temperatures will range from 4°C to 8°C, with generally light to moderate easterly winds.
Looking beyond that, forecasters say high pressure will stay in charge for the rest of the week, meaning predominantly dry conditions and daytime temperatures sitting between 4°C and 8°C.
All in all, not a bad forecast at all for festive walks, spins to see family — or just getting out of the house without being soaked.
