Met Éireann says we’re in for some ‘wintry’ weather this week, starting tonight

It wouldn’t be an Irish spring without some sleet.
And Met Éireann has confirmed that Mother Nature will not disappoint this year, with the whole gamut of weather conditions forecast for the coming days.
Forecasters predict it will be “unsettled and turning cold as the week progresses with some heavy blustery showers bringing the risk of some wintry precipitation at times.”
Wednesday will start dry with a mix of sunny spells and temperatures of 9C-11C, but cloud will thicken through the late morning and a breeze will pick up as a band of showery rain moves in from the Atlantic.
On Thursday, sunny spells and heavy, blustery showers of rain or hail will become widespread as the day goes on. Highest temperatures will range from 9C to 13C, dropping as low as 1C on Thursday night.
‘Raw with added wind chill’
“Cooler conditions will follow the rain with scattered heavy showers of rain, hail or sleet following into the west later in the night.” said a forecaster.
“Lowest temperatures will fall to between 1 and 4 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.”
Forecasters are predicting “a cold and windy day with sunny spells and widespread heavy showers” on Friday, warning that some will turn wintry with a risk of hail and isolated thunderstorms.
“Afternoon temperatures of just 4 to 9 degrees, and feeling raw with the added wind chill brought about by the fresh and gusty westerly winds.”
Guess it’s time to light the fire again.
