Met Éireann says the weather is going to be pretty dodgy for the weekend

It’s a gorgeous morning.
Sadly it looks like the sunny May weather is about to be interrupted by wind, thunder, hail and rain for the weekend.
According to Met Éireann, temperatures will range between 16 and 20C today but it will become increasingly cloudy this afternoon so it’s probably best to get your daily stroll in early or risk a drenching later.
“Heavy or thundery rain will push into the southwest in the evening and will extend northeastwards with strengthening southeast winds and gales developing along Atlantic coasts.” reports the national forecaster.
It will be wet and windy tonight with outbreaks of rain turning heavy and thundery at times, followed by showers and lowest temperatures of between nine and 11 degrees.
Sunny spells at first today. Cloud thickening from the southwest this afternoon, however, as southeasterly winds freshen. Heavy rain, with thundery bursts, will arrive in the SW by evening, extending northeastwards in strengthening SE winds. Highs of 16 to 20C. pic.twitter.com/807TzFX6CO

Friday will be cooler, with temperatures of up to 15C and a mix of sunshine and scattered thundershowers with some hail. We can expect longer spells of rain on Saturday, along with a fresh and gusty westerly wind.
It’s not all bad, however; Sunday is looking good with a sunny afternoon forecast and highest temperatures of up to 19C – ideal for breaking out the barbecue.
