Met Éireann forecasts sunshine for Cork today (but lots of thundery rain later this week)

Hey, at least the first half of the week looks okay.
Met Éireann is forecasting a period of low pressure in the second half of this week, with “widespread slow-moving showers, occasionally merging to longer spells of thundery rain” for most of the country by Thursday.
On the bright side, the rest of Monday will be cloudy with sunny spells and mostly dry apart from some well-scattered showers in Cork. Top temperatures will range between 15C to 18C.
Monday will be a much brighter day with good spells of sunshine & plenty of dry weather. 🌤️
Some well scattered showers will occur, most frequent along north facing coasts. 🌦️

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly dry, with temperatures of up to 17C in the south.
By Thursday, however, things will take a turn, with forecasters predicting it will be cloudy or overcast with outbreaks of rain extending nationwide and turning heavy at times. Friday will be wet and unsettled with widespread rain, heavy at times too and blustery southwesterly winds.
The outlook for the weekend isn’t ideal either: “Low pressure will feed in widespread slow-moving showers, occasionally merging to longer spells of thundery rain.” added the forecasters.
