Members of this Cork family have worked at one brewery since 1856

Barry Hosford has worked at the Heineken brewery on Leitrim Street for 34 years.
It’s an impressive record, but it’s something of a family trait.
Mr Hosford is a fourth generation local Cork brewer with a whopping 162 years of family connection to the brewery.
In a new video, Mr Hosford describes his career to date and the number of local families who have benefitted from careers at Heineken, which opened in 1856 as the Murphy’s Brewery and was acquired by Heineken in 1883.
His great grandfather began working there in 1856, when he lived at Walsh’s Place where his grandfather was also born.
At one stage in the late 1960s, five Hosford brothers worked at the brewery.
“People would call it the Hosford brewery,” Barry jokes. “There was so many of us here!”
In the video, part of the ‘Story of Us’ campaign by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI), Mr Hosford recalls how he often visited the brewery as a child with his father.
He began a summer job there and has remained an employee to this day, taking over the same roles that generations of Hosford men held before him.
