Love wildlife? This new Cork biodiversity conference should be on your radar

Attention, wildlife lovers.
If you’ve ever found yourself stopping mid-walk to admire a bird overhead or getting far too excited about spotting a fox or a barn owl, this one belongs in your diary.
Wildlife Rescue Cork has announced its very first biodiversity conference, bringing together experts from across Cork and beyond for a day dedicated to celebrating and protecting the region’s wildlife this winter.
Taking place at UCC on Saturday, November 21st, 2026, The Wild Assembly: Wings, Whiskers and Waves, promises a packed programme of talks from specialists working across biodiversity and conservation. While the full speaker line-up is still under wraps, organisers have already confirmed sessions focusing on swifts, barn owls, as well as representatives from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), Cork City Council, and Cork County Council.
The event will also be officially opened by Cork senator Laura Harmon, who is set to deliver the opening address.

Describing it as their first-ever biodiversity conference, Wildlife Rescue Cork said they’re “soooooooooo excited” to be creating a special day centred around learning, conservation and connecting people who care about Ireland’s wildlife.
Ticket details and the full list of speakers are expected to be announced over the coming weeks, but if you’re passionate about nature, conservation or simply want to learn more about the incredible species living on our doorstep, this is one event worth keeping an eye on.
