Kinsale’s Kidathlon returns to the Dock Beach this weekend

It’s been running for twelve years.
And this weekend, Kinsale Triathlon Club is once again hosting its Kinsale Kidathlon, promoting health, fitness, and fun for young people.
The unique children’s triathlon will take place on Sunday, July 20th at the Dock Beach, near Kinsale town, kicking off at 9.30am.
A no-podiums affair
Participants aged from six to 15 will tackle age-appropriate swimming (over eights only), cycling, and running courses, with distances starting from just 200m. With no podiums or winners declared, the focus remains firmly on personal achievement, healthy participation, and the sheer joy of completing a multi-sport challenge.
An accessible, volunteer-led event, the Kidathlon offers a unique and low-cost entry point for young people to engage with sport in a supportive atmosphere.
“The Kinsale Kidathlon truly embodies the spirit of our community.” said Race Director and Kinsale Triathlon Club member, Andrew Lockington.
“It’s more than just a race; it’s a day where you see kids pushing their limits with huge smiles, often helping each other across the finish line. That’s the real win here.”
Registration is now open and you can secure your child’s spot for €15 here (navigate to ‘Find a Race’). FYI: Wetsuits and helmets are compulsory for swimmers and cyclists.
