Keep your eyes peeled for a living statue outside The Crawford on Culture Night

It’s art brought to life.
If you’re planning a trip into town on Cork Culture Night, Friday, September 20th, swing by The Crawford Art Gallery from 5pm on.
A living statue will be striding around the area outside the gallery and in the Gibson Galleries until 7.30pm, with lots of music and family-friendly workshops planned for the night.
“Our popular living statue returns for Culture Night 2024, wowing adults and children alike and quite literally posing questions about how we view the famous Canova Casts and other sculptures in the collection.” said a gallery insider.
This will be the Cork gallery’s last Culture Night for a while, as they are set to close to the public on the evening of Sunday, September 22nd for Transforming Crawford Art Gallery, their major redevelopment project.

The project will see the gallery increase its space by 50 per cent, add a stunning new fifth-storey public gallery with birds-eye views over Cork city landmarks, and conserve 300 years of built heritage for future generations. The gallery expects to reopen to the public in mid-2027.
Crawford Art Gallery will stay open until 10pm this Culture Night to allow visitors to linger and enjoy special events and talks. The regular exhibitions and screenings will also be open late for the public to enjoy.
