Join herbalist Jo Goodyear on a free ‘walk and talk’ in a city centre green space

You don’t need to travel very far to explore nature in Cork.
In fact, a local botanist and herbalist is leading a free weekend event that will give you an up-close and personal look at the fascinating array of plants growing right here in the city.
As well as a lovely morning of fresh air and exercise, Jo Goodyear will give the group the basics on what to look out for when it comes to foraging on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 11am to 1pm.
“This is an interactive walk and talk with the expert, exploring the relationship between plants and people (and funghi too!), wild and domesticated.” say the organisers, The Natural Dye Project, members of which have put together a number of fun and family-friendly natural dye workshops in the coming months.
The event, which will take place in Parkowen, a green space just off Quaker Road, is funded by the Artist in the Community Scheme, Arts Council Ireland, managed by Create.
“We will learn about the many remarkable qualities of particular plants and explore Parkowen from an ant’s eye view!
Participants are advised to bring a rain jacket and a mug for tea tasting. You can register for free via Eventbrite.
A selection of creative events will continue into autumn, check them out here:
