It’s a sunny start to the week (but temps will plunge to -1 tonight with frost and rain likely)

It’s deceptively chilly out there.
Met Éireann says we’re in for an unsettled week weather-wise, with colder conditions lasting into the weekend.
It will be dry and bright in Cork today with long spells of sunshine as patchy frost clears and while scattered cloud will develop during the afternoon, it will stay dry overall despite “feeling cool with highest temperatures of just around 7 to 9 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.”
According to the forecasters, it will be cold early on tonight with some frost across Munster:
“Overnight, cloud will increase and, after a calm start, southwest winds will freshen with outbreaks of rain moving in later in the night and towards morning. Lows of -1 to + 3 degrees, coldest during the first half of the night.”

Rain is expected across the entire country on Tuesday night, clearing to sunny spells and well-scattered showers by Wednesday morning.
Thursday will be a cooler day as a change of airmass sets in: “The last of any overnight cloud or rain will give way to sunny spells and blustery showers, some turning wintry with some hail.” said the forecasters.
“Some sleet over high ground too. Highs of 5 to 8 degrees with an added wind chill factor owing to fresh and gusty westerly winds.”
