It’s a strange Mother’s Day, but people have been leaving some lovely messages on Twitter

We’ll need to hold off on the hugs for now.
But despite the strict Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing, people have been finding new ways to make sure Cork’s mammies know they are loved on Mother’s Day 2020.
In Skibbereen, the owners of a gift shop called Higgildy Piggildy closed their store but left out a selection of their Mother’s Day cards for locals to take home for free.
Such a great #Randomactsofkindness by Higgildy Piggildy in @SkibbereenIRL Their shop is closed due to the current crisis but they left out #mothersday2020 cards for people passing on the street to take for free.

Meanwhile, sons and daughters, in-laws, grandchildren and partners have been sharing stories and messages about their mums on social media.
Here are a few of the sweetest:
A huge shout out to (in no particular order) the single mum, stay at home mum, working mum, differently abled mum, mum to be, the grand – mum, mum who lost a child, queer mum, step-mum & more! Ye are incredible; one of the pillars of society. Power to ye!#corklike #gooddaycork pic.twitter.com/1pKPXopXak

Funny one this year, we know, but we still think it’s important to say #HappyMothersDay2020 to all the #PureCork Mams, Mammies, Mums, Moms, or whatever you call them yourself.
Remembering also those who are not with us any longer, and those for whom today is a difficult one ❤️
