It Takes A Village organisers have cancelled this year’s festival until 2021

By Yay Cork March 27, 2020March 27, 2020

The trip to Trabolgan will have to wait.

It Takes A Village festival, due to take place from May 8th-10th has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, with organisers forced to postpone this year’s festival and reschedule for May 2021.

“As none of us knows how long this pandemic will continue on for we felt it was prudent to make this call now.” said organiser Ed O’Leary.

“We were really looking forward to this year’s festival so we are hoping most of the acts both Irish and international will join us again in 2021. The feedback from all acts is very positive about joining us next year. They are in the same boat as us, caught in the doldrums in this sea of uncertainty. We are all in this together.”

“We had hoped that the situation in Ireland and around the world would have improved by the beginning of May, but as we all know there is no clarity on this. In these uncertain times, we feel that many acts might not want or be able to travel from the US, UK or Europe. Irish acts also might have issues with social proximity. Our loyal villagers and new found friends that were due to join us on this third instalment of It Takes A Village might not feel comfortable socialising for many months to come.”

Looking ahead to 2021

The new dates for It Takes A Village are: May 7th – 9th 2021, at Trabolgan Holiday Village, Cork.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the postponement but sadly this one is out of our hands and in the lap of the gods.” added Mr O’Leary.

“This is tough for us. We’re a small independent festival and this has hit us hard obviously. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. But, as mentioned above, we are approaching this with positivity.”

“Be good to each other, stay safe out there and see ye on the other side.”

The festival team have been in touch with all ticket holders with regard to tickets booked and refunds.
