Ikea hints that a full-size Cork store may be on the way as the company expands

We might be getting the meatballs yet.
With Ikea’s new Plan and Order point almost ready to open in Douglas, the furniture giant has hinted that a full-size Ikea experience, complete with in-store Swedish restaurant, could be in the pipeline for Cork.
Speaking at an announcement where it was revealed that the company is opening a huge new customer distribution centre in Dublin, Ikea deputy retail manager for Ireland and the UK, Marsha Smith said research is ongoing into the next Irish location:
“For me, it’s a dream that we would do that and I think we would really love to see more stores in a similar vein to Ballymun because obviously it’s been hugely successful,” she said.

“We really sort of take our time, we do a lot of research. We’re really looking to where is the right location.”
Smith said that when the company commits, it commits for the long term: “So with that comes an awful lot of research into what could be that next location.” she added.
In the meantime, Ikea fans will be able to meet with specialist designers to plan kitchen, bedroom, or living room upgrades with a free appointment at the Douglas Village Shopping Centre Plan and Order outlet when it opens this spring.
Purchases made at the Plan and Order points will be delivered to your home.
