If you love Lenihan’s famous Shandon Sweets, now you can try an Apple Drops cocktail

It’s a quintessentially Cork flavour.
The Lenihan family have been making their famous Apple Drop sweets in Shandon for generations (since 1929 to be exact).
Now fans of the sugary little balls of deliciousness can try a grown-up take on the nostalgic taste: the talented team at Cask on Mac Curtain Street has invented a cocktail inspired by them.
Announcing the Red Rover, a new addition to the summer menu at the multi-award-winning bar, the Cask crew revealed that the Apple Drop is actually the second favourite among Lenihans Sweets-loving Cork folk.
“Their best seller is Clove Rock apparently, but at Cask we’re weak for their Apple Drops…. so much so that we chose to feature them on our latest menu.

“Introducing RED ROVER, a zesty little number featuring Don Julio Blanco, glorious apple notes from the Killahora Ice Wine, fragrant geranium, and a distillate of Lenihan’s legendary Apple Drops.
They’re calling it “An Apple martini with notions’.
