Iconic period features inspired a design refresh inside Cork’s Everyman Theatre

It’s curtain up on a new look at The Everyman.
One of Cork’s most beloved theatres has had a facelift, with new interior signage and decor in the main public areas.
Spearheaded by the local design firm Coolgrey, a suite of new design features pays homage to the theatre’s rich history, inspired by the iconic colours, patterns, and heritage found inside the 127-year-old MacCurtain Street building.
The key motif is a geometric pattern inspired by the blue and gold ceiling of the theatre, which has now been reproduced on the ceiling and walls in the foyer and stairwell.

“The result is a space that exudes warmth and richness, inviting theatregoers to immerse themselves in the magic of live performance from the moment they step through the doors,” Coolgrey told us.
“But the transformation goes beyond mere aesthetics. With a keen understanding of the importance of audience engagement, the new design was crafted to create an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, setting the stage for unforgettable experiences to come.
“From the carefully curated decor to the strategic layout of the space, every element was chosen with the goal of enhancing the overall theatergoing experience,” they added.

Plans for further enhancements are already on the horizon at the theatre to ensure its status as a cultural gem for generations to come.
