How about a truffle-themed movie night with Italian wine and film-inspired bites?

Fancy a movie night with a little Italian flair?
L’Atitude 51 on Union Quay, Cork City, is whisking wine fans off to Piemonte for its next CineCafe evening.
The wine bar is hosting a Cinecafé screening of The Truffle Hunters, the beautiful documentary that follows a group of elderly men in northern Italy who spend their nights searching for the elusive white Alba truffle.
And this is definitely not your standard cinema trip.
The event on Wednesday, September 30th, will pair the film with a series of movie-inspired bites and drinks, with plenty of Italian wine on offer to match the Piemonte setting.
The documentary, from directors Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, heads into the forests around Alba, where a handful of men in their eighties continue the traditional hunt for the highly prized white truffle – accompanied by their very loyal canine companions.

It’s a world of secret locations, night-time hunts and mysterious backstreet deals, with the hunters carefully keeping their best truffle spots away from rivals.
The film also explores the fact that white Alba truffles remain notoriously difficult to cultivate, meaning the traditional knowledge behind finding them is at risk of disappearing as the older generation of hunters dies out.
But despite the subject matter, The Truffle Hunters isn’t all doom and gloom. It’s described as a real-life fairy tale, with friendship, animals, food and some seriously beautiful Italian scenery all wrapped into the story.
And L’Atitude 51 is putting its own spin on the film, creating an evening built around the tastes and atmosphere of Piemonte.
Tickets are €38, which includes the movie, movie-inspired food and drinks. Given that Piemonte is also one of Italy’s major wine regions, there’ll be plenty of Italian wines to choose from throughout the evening.
Tickets are limited – email info@latitude51.ie to book.
