Hop on a ferry this weekend for a unique art exhibition on Sherkin Island

Craving a bit of adventure?
Art lovers are invited to set sail to Sherkin Island this weekend for a unique exhibition of art installations by this year’s final-year students of the BAVA Sherkin Island Arts degree programme.
Beyond the Frame is an all-island, two-day installation of artwork that will be open for the public to explore on Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th, followed by a showcase at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre from May 25th to June 15th.

Ferries will depart Baltimore Pier throughout the weekend with extra services to transport as many people as possible to the island, which is only three miles long with a population of about 100.
The stunning landscape hosts the BA (hons) in Visual Art, a community-based, four-year, honours degree, visual art programme.
It is fully accredited, managed and delivered by the Dublin School of Art and Design, Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) in partnership with Sherkin Island Development Society (SIDS) and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre, and is part-funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and Cork County Council.
The ferry only takes ten minutes and you can grab a pint and lunch in the Jolly Roger on the other side.
