Hit this lovely Zero Waste Market in Leap (and sleep over for a steal)

It’s the perfect impromptu overnighter.
If you fancy a mid-week jaunt down to West Cork while the weather is good, then we have just the thing.
The folks at CECAS Myross Wood House are hosting a Zero Waste Market to encourage more people to think sustainably and shop locally in the courtyard of their scenic estate on Wednesday, July 27th.
The former retreat centre became a Centre of Excellence for Climate Action and Sustainability (or CECAS for short) back in 2021 and has since made huge strides in turning the grounds into a community resource for biodiversity, education, recreation and the arts.
The group have got to work restoring the old house and lush woodlands, making it one of the most relaxing and peaceful spots in West Cork. The walks are punctuated with waterfalls and streams, mossed stone steps, an abundance of vegetation and emerging trees- so there’s plenty to do when you’re finished in the market.
“There will be coffee and cakes which are baked with love from our volunteers. The revenue goes directly into the CECAS organisation. If you are curious about what we do and what our mission is, just come along and have a chat,” said CECAS on Instagram.

The recently renovated rooms are simple, basic and comfortable, meaning that you can soak up the scenery, enjoy the market and stay over for as little as €30 per night – bargain. Check out the rooms on Air BnB here.
You can even limit your carbon footprint by taking the bus, which stops a short distance from the centre. If you’re travelling from Cork city, an adult return is just €17 with West Cork Connect.
The Zero Waste Market takes place from 10 am-2 pm on Wednesday, July 27th at CECAS Myross Wood House in Ardagh, Leap.
