High Street post office is about to reopen as a new coffee shop and bakery

High Street Post Office closed in 2022.
But the local hub is about to welcome the community in the door once more when it reopens this month… and this time visitors will be able to pick up a coffee instead of their pension or their parcels.
Well-known confectioner and baker Ruairi Domican Byrne has been hard at work transforming the building into a bakery and deli, with plans to open on November 12th.
The baker said he was thrilled to announce the next chapter of the Rúairí’s Kitchen story, which has been in the works for a while.
“It’s getting so close to being finished and I can’t wait to show you all.” he posted on Instagram.
“What a crazy few months I have had with project managing the kit out of the old post office, wedding season and lots and lots of occasion cakes. But we are almost there and I can see the finish line.

Ruairí gave a shout-out to his husband and mom for helping him to get through the process.
“We can now officially say we are looking forward to welcoming you all through our doors to enjoy homemade sandwiches, salads, quiches, brownies, cupcakes, cakes, tea, coffee and much much more on November 12th, all made using carefully sourced local and high-quality ingredients.”
The café will be takeaway only at first, with plans to add seating indoors and outdoors in the pipeline.
