Here’s how you can get some funding for a small Seachtain na Gaeilge event in Cork

This could be a handy boost.
Cork City Council has launched a project grant scheme of up to €750 for Irish language events in the lead-up to Seachtain na Gaeilge and beyond.
These grants are for Irish language organisations and those who would not generally consider themselves Irish language organisations but have an event or project that is aimed at promoting the Irish language in an accessible way to the general public in Cork .
The scheme is managed by An Grúpa Forbartha Gaeilge, a committee of the City Council whose objective is to encourage the use of Irish in Cork.
“There are many low-cost or no-cost ways to encourage greater use of Irish in public settings,” said Chris Dorgan, Irish Development Officer, Cork City Council.
“We are encouraging people to come up with ideas to raise the visibility of the language in a non-judgmental fun way and are especially welcoming of ideas and applications from our new communities.”
If the project is to take place during Seachtain na Gaeilge ( March – 17th, 2024) this should be clearly indicated.
Application forms, in English and Irish, are available to download from Cork City Council’s website here.
