Here’s a peek at the plans for a brand new park and playground in Glanmire

Families and dog lovers will be thrilled with this.
Plans have been formally unveiled for a brand new public park in Glanmire designed to transform riverside lands into a major recreation and community hub.
Spearheaded by Cork City Council, the proposed development will complement existing local amenities like John O’Callaghan Park and link directly into the newly established Glanmire Greenway.

Following the recent construction of two new pedestrian and cycle bridges over the Butlerstown and Glashaboy Rivers, the project aims to expand green spaces and active travel routes for the area’s growing population.
The proposed design packs in a wide array of new facilities for all ages, including:
- A new children’s playground
- A designated dog park
- A Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)
- A dedicated learn-to-cycle track
- Community gathering spaces, visitor parking, and riverside viewing points
- Seamless walking and cycling links alongside biodiversity-rich landscaping
The development aims to create an accessible space for outdoor play, sports, active travel, and nature preservation while strengthening connections between surrounding neighborhoods and local transport links.
