Here’s a new public astronomy event you can enjoy over pints and pizza

Autumn is a nice time to broaden your horizons.
And if you’ve always been fascinated (or even low-level curious) about galaxies, massive black holes, and binary stars, an upcoming event is just the ticket.
Astronomy on Tap is coming to the Franciscan Well Brewery & Brewpub on the North Mall on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024.
Kicking off at 7pm, the free event includes three public talks about current topics in astronomy and astrophysics given by professional astronomers. There will be time for Q&A after each talk, as well as space-themed trivia.
If you arrive early you’ll have time to grab a seat, a beer, and maybe a pizza before the free talk begins.
Drink in the Universe
Speakers on the night are Dr. Mark Kennedy (Lecturer at UCC), Danielle Wilcox (Resident Astronomer at Blackrock Castle) and Ben Sheehan (Postgraduate student at UCC).
“This is a part of an international series of public events designed to share current astronomy news/research with the public, straight from the experts themselves.” UCC lecturer in Theoretical Astrophysics, Dr. Michael Tremmel told us.
“We are really excited about bringing this series to Cork for the first time!”
Under-18s are allowed in if they are accompanied by an adult. Sign up for a free ticket here.
