Who doesn’t love an amazing vintage find?

We like nothing better than trawling through rails and boxes of old stuff in search of the dream fashion purchase.

What we do not love is the weird, musty smell that often comes free of charge with an aged handbag, clutch, shoes or hat.

Happily, there’s a simple trick you can employ to banish the stink forever… and it only takes a few minutes.

Pick up a bag of cat litter from your local supermarket (you want the cheaper, chalky one, not the wood pellets).

Place your smelly item in a plastic bag and gently fill it with the cat litter. If the outside is odourous too, you can completely cover it.

Leave the item in the bag overnight and the cat litter should neutralise and absorb the dank whiff like a dream.

Just dust it off, dump the cat litter and you’re good to go.
