Have a go at digital fabrication at this fascinating free design workshop

It’s one of the city’s leading meet-ups for makers.
And Benchspace is inviting creative folk from all walks of life to join them for free at this month’s BenchTalk event as part of Design Week.
Held at the Benchspace base on Center Park Road, the evening on Thursday, November 17th is an opportunity for makers to meet, socialise, network, ask questions, share challenges and show off what they are working on.
As part of Design Week, you can take part in a selection of interesting workshops this week too:
- On Thursday, November 17th, Cork printmaker Paul McKenna will focus on the different design techniques he uses in making his artwork, mainly looking at processes used in laser cutting as part of this. 2pm, book here.
- Later, Polish-born artist and Crawford College grad Aleksandra Kowalczyk will demonstrate a variety of ways in which she uses the laser cutting machine in her design process. 4.30pm book here.
- On November 18th, maker and entrepreneur Mejdi Nciri will give a general presentation of 3D printing. This one is hands-on so bring your computer and your mouse. 2pm, book here.
- Later on Friday, Cork-based jewellery designer Izabella Balikoti will give guests a peek behind the curtain of the processes used in the development of prototypes for The Silver Loom jewellery studio. 4.30pm, book here.
