Green light for new €11m ALDI store in Kinsale, with 30 new jobs on the way

A new €11m ALDI store has been green-lit in Kinsale.
An Bord Pleanála has confirmed that planning permission has been granted for the new Cork store, which will create 30 jobs when open and support 50 jobs during the construction period.
The store is expected to be open by summer 2025.
Cork County Council had previously granted local authority planning permission for the project. The plans include 102 car parking spaces, 24 bike spaces and four electric vehicle charging points, alongside a 1,315sqm store designed in ALDI’s award-winning Project Fresh layout.
“As outlined in our Report ‘The Financial Impact of Ireland’s Planning System Delays on the Irish Consumer’, published last September, ALDI stores bring monthly savings of €78,333 to the communities they operate in.” said Colin Breslin, Managing Director of Buying & Services, ALDI Ireland.
“Our goal is to deliver this value within reach of every town, village, and rural community in Ireland, and we have ambitious plans to expand our store network.”
If you’re hoping to become part of the staff at the new Kinsale store, ALDI Ireland is Ireland’s best-paying supermarket, paying all store assistants up to €16.90 an hour, with a market leading entry rate of €14.80 an hour.
