Grateful parents are raving about this Cork restaurant’s new children’s play area

The food is outrageously good.
But as all parents of small kids know, to really enjoy a meal at Wild Garlic you need at least 15 minutes of peace to savour each bite… and the team at this excellent West Cork eatery has your back.
Celebrating a year in business in Dunmanway this month, Wild Garlic Coffee Shop and Restaurant has announced that a small but safe play zone is now available for visiting families to use, providing a much-appreciated distraction for energetic smallies when they decide they’ve had enough of sitting at the table.
A colourful playpen has been filled with a toy kitchen, some musical instruments, a rocking horse, a digger, and a toddler play centre – ideal for keeping curious minds busy while you wolf down your main course.

The restaurant, run by Clonakilty native chef Ann Marie Butler and her husband Pat Kiely, looks out over Dunmanway’s Square. As parents themselves, the pair understand the struggle of attempting to entertain a rambunctious child while eating out.
“Our play zone is ready for your little ones to enjoy while parents get to relax and enjoy the rest of their meals when the kiddies are finished.
“Just ask for info when you’re in.” the restaurant owners posted on Instagram.
The menu celebrates the best of local produce and even the bread in their delicious sandwiches is hand-made in-house.

Try the Ballycotton oak smoked salmon Caesar salad with apple and pear chutney and aged parmesan… and don’t skimp on the Oreo milkshake afterwards.
