Grammy-nominated musician Alexi Murdoch just sailed into town to perform in Cork

It’s a fitting way to arrive.
Grammy-nominated musician Alexi Murdoch sailed into Cork Harbour by boat on Tuesday to take part in Sounds from a Safe Harbour Festival (SFSH) this week.
The artist sailed solo from Scotland, taking ten days to make the trip in a 101-year-old boat, MACARIA.
It’s Murdoch’s third appearance at SFSH, with a unique curated programme by Festival Director Mary Hickson, Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National, actor Cillian Murphy and playwright Enda Walsh kicking off from September 7th – 10th in venues across Cork City.
Murdoch is one of the names who will experiment and collaborate with other performers in the ‘37d03d residency’, appearing on the pop-up programme around the city over the course of the weekend.
The festival promises to be an unmissable four days of music, dance, literature, theatre, and conversation, with plenty of ticketed and free events to explore.
Artists on this year’s programme include Feist, Bonny Light Horseman with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Wilco, Ye Vagabonds, the 37d03d Residency, Dermot Kennedy, The Vernon Spring, Niamh Regan, LA Force, aAlex Somers and Kara Jackson, to name but a few.
