Got an hour to help build a wheelchair accessible, sensory labyrinth in Ballyphehane?

Volunteering is good for the soul.
Especially if it gets your heart pumping in the fresh air while introducing you to some new mates in the process.
Up in Ballyphehane, locals are busily working away on a brand new addition to the Tory Top Park and they’re hoping some more volunteers will chip in to help them out.
Work on the Tory Top Community Education and Meditation Garden is well underway, with plans including a wheelchair-accessible ‘labyrinth’ meditation garden with autism-friendly plants and shrubbery and planting to provide natural soundproofing.

There will also be an outdoor education space with a blackboard and a biodiversity info board and a Food Growing Education space with a large semi-circular planter for growing different types of native food, from strawberries and herbs to potatoes and carrots.
A specially designed bench will act as a sitting and kneeling space for older community members to use while digging in the planters.
It’s all coming together but many hands make light work:
“We need as much help as possible, we have tonnes to move (literally), if you have a spare hour or two please do pop along and help make Ballyphehane better for all.” said a spokesperson for the group.
