You’d be surprised how easy it is to pick up.
If you’ve got a ukulele gathering dust in a cupboard somewhere, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to put it to good use.
Ukulele-le-chéile, a community group dedicated to getting people of all ages and levels of musical ability playing the world’s easiest instrument, will be holding a mass uke-along from 12pm to 1pm at Arís Cafe & Wine Bar on Asna Square in Clonakilty this Saturday, September 21st as part of the Clonakilty Guitar Festival.
Zero experience is necessary and all ages are welcome.
Established by The West Cork Ukulele Orchestra and run with infectious enthusiasm by Christine Deady and Isobel Towse, all the popular, simple songs and the tuition you need to get up and strumming will be provided on the day.
While you’re in town, don’t miss the chance to enjoy lunch on the terrace at Arís and pop around the corner to Stone Valley Coffee Roasters for a caffeine hit afterwards.
They promise a ‘welcoming and light-hearted’ environment… “just bring a uke and join in!”
