Good news for Carrigaline families as playground closes for major upgrade

It’s been a long wait.
But good news is finally on the way for families in Carrigaline, with much-needed refurbishment works set to begin on the community playground this week.
The project will transform the existing play area into a safer, brighter and more inclusive space for children of all ages to enjoy.
To allow the works to take place, the playground is now closed and is expected to remain shut for approximately three to four weeks. Organisers say the upgraded facility will reopen as soon as construction is complete, although timelines may be affected by weather conditions.

While the temporary closure may disappoint some young playground regulars, those involved in the project say the improvements will be well worth the wait. Members of the Playground Committee described the refurbishment as a significant milestone after years of planning and fundraising efforts.
They noted that the existing playground has deteriorated considerably over time and that the upcoming works will bring much-needed upgrades to create a modern, accessible and welcoming space for the entire community.
The committee also thanked local families and residents for their patience and continued support while the works are carried out.
Progress updates will be shared on social media throughout the project, with organisers looking forward to welcoming children and families back to the improved playground later this summer.
For now, it’s a case of watch this space.
