Welcome to the new normal.

Summer 2020 was looking like a washout in terms of live entertainment in recent weeks, but one company have found a way to stage live gigs while maintaining social distancing.

Today, Live at the Drive-In announced Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James will play Cork’s Showgrounds on Friday, July 31st, as part of a drive-in live concert experience, the first of its kind in Ireland.

The family-friendly event will see artists will perform two concerts per day; one matinee and one evening show. The artists will perform live from the stage, with concertgoers watching from the comfort of the car, with tickets €60 per car of four people.

So how does it work?
According to the organisers: “The show will be performed live by the headline artist and broadcast via PA system from the stage AND FM transmitter, the frequency will be supplied on site.”

No alcohol will be permitted at the event but food will be available and you can also bring food with you to enjoy in the car.

Can I dance?
“Yes, you can as long as you do it from the comfort of your car, exiting your car to have a boogie is not allowed.”

Tickets for Gavin James’ Boxes tour at the Showgrounds go on sale this Friday at 9am. The singer will also play drive-in concerts in Limerick, Waterford and Kilkenny.

You can purchase tickets via the Live at the Drive-In website here.
