FYI, pedestrians, the build-out of the new Parnell Plaza begins this week

This might affect your walk to work.
Pedestrians and cyclists have been asked to take extra care when travelling along Parnell Bridge onto the South Mall in the city centre in the coming weeks as work begins on the Morrison’s Island Parnell Plaza.
“To facilitate the build-out of the new plaza at the junction of South Mall and Parnell Bridge, there will be a change to the temporary pedestrian route around the works site starting next week.” a Cork City Council spokesperson explained.
“To ensure safety, pedestrians are asked to observe the directional signage that will be in place and cyclists are reminded to dismount while travelling through the temporary route.

“As works are on the footpath, there will be no impact on vehicular traffic whilst these works are taking place.”
The new plaza is expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
