Four fabulous fresh fish dishes to put on your takeaway list for February

By Katie Mythen-Lynch February 16, 2021February 15, 2021

Serious about seafood?

It might be a while before we can travel to the coast for a long, leisurely (wine-soaked) lunch, but in the meantime, there’s plenty of fish to be found on local click and collect menus.

From a posh take on a chipper classic to the ultimate salmon burger, hake tacos and a chowder bread bowl, the catch of the day comes in a festival of different flavours, all ideal if you’re looking for a takeaway with real bite.

Here are four fabulous fish dinners to click and collect this week:

1. TRY THE MYRTLEVILLE SWIMMER AT THE LODGE

Just the thing to warm your cockles after a frosty dip in the sea, The Myrtleville Swimmer (€12.40) is a hefty salmon loin burger topped with fresh avocado, coriander, teriyaki mayo and black sesame, all served with rocket, pickled red onion and skinny fries.

The Lodge Bar & Kitchen is open for collections from 4pm to 8pm Thursday to Sunday. Call 021 4833 426 to order 20 minutes before you want to collect.

2. MONKFISH GOUJONS AT THE LEAPING SALON

A posh take on your Friday fish and chips, The Leaping Salmon’s Peroni Beer Battered Monkfish Goujons (€15) are utterly delicious. Served with a big scoop of chips, they’re a popular order so get yours in before they sell out.

The Leaping Salmon operated Click and Collect from 3pm Thursday to Sunday on 021 435 8378.

3. THE CHOWDER BREAD BOWL AT GOLDBERGS

Who needs a bowl when you can enjoy your dinner straight from a hollowed-out loaf of sourdough? Goldberg’s bread bowls (€10) come in a variety of fillings, but the chowder is a clear winner in our book.

Goldberg’s are open for Call & Collect takeaway nightly until 9pm on 021 496 5848.

4. FISH TACOS AT GOOD DAY DELI

Crisp and light, Good Day Deli’s Kai Moana Fish Tacos are the perfect spring supper now that the evenings are getting longer. The lightly battered Ballycotton hake pieces are wrapped in authentic Blanco Niño corn tortillas, with raw slaw and pickle and coriander aioli served with hand-cut paprika fries.

You can click and collect your Kai Moana Fish Tacos (€16.50) from the entrance at Evergreen Street. Full menu here.
