Fountainstown folk are on a mission to bring back their local tennis courts

It was the centre of the action back in the day.
But now Fountainstown locals have launched a brand new drive to reinvigorate the area’s dilapidated tennis courts for a new generation to enjoy.
A GoFundMe has been set up to raise funds to have the courts resurfaced (as per the artist’s impression above) as part of a larger plan to bring Fountainstown Community Sports Club, first established in 1936, back to life.
Donations are already rolling in and the money raised will cover artificial grass, new nets, and a safe playing surface for tennis fans of all ages to enjoy all year ’round.
The goal, says Club Secretary and Co-Chairperson Hayley Williams, is to see the club reach its full potential by restoring its facilities for the benefit of both members and the wider community.
“In doing so, our hope is to give our kids a taste of our childhood,” Williams added.

The community has been reviving the club since May 2022 and has already upgraded and restored the basketball court and five-a-side-soccer court.
Locals can now enjoy tennis, golf, and basketball lessons, yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Zumba, and dance classes at the venue, with a Lego Club for kids and coffee and boules for grown-ups too.
