Forget the gym — Cork’s early risers are heading to this 7am coffee shop rave instead

By Yay Cork April 28, 2026April 25, 2026

Set your alarm.

If your usual Friday morning involves hitting snooze five times and panic-drinking a coffee on the way to work… this might shake things up a bit.

Sam’s Coffee in Togher (just outside St. Finbarr’s GAA club) is hosting what might be the most energetic way to start your day, with music, caffeine, and serious feel-good vibes kicking off from 7am this Friday, May 1st.

Bringing the buzz, KC will be broadcasting live on Red FM from the Big Red Bus parked outside, while Stevie G takes over the decks — so yes, your morning flat white will come with a side of beats.

The idea? Get as many people down as possible to literally rave their way into the day. And honestly, we’re kind of into it.

But it’s not just about the tunes and coffee. The event is part of a wider call from Focus Ireland, encouraging people across Cork (and beyond) to use their voice and stand in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness.

The numbers are sobering — over 17,000 people are currently homeless nationwide, including nearly 5,500 children. In Cork alone, 760 people are living in emergency accommodation, including 128 families and 252 children across the South West region.

Focus Ireland is asking musicians, communities, schools and anyone who wants to get involved to take part — whether that’s attending events like this, hosting your own gig, or joining a nationwide ‘noise moment’ at 11am on Friday.

So if you’ve ever said you’re “not a morning person,” this might be your chance to prove yourself wrong — all while supporting a seriously important cause.

Coffee, music, and a bit of purpose before 9am? Not a bad way to start the day. Make Some Noise events will take place throughout Friday May 1st in Mahon Point Shopping Centre (11am – 7pm).
