Foodies are already planning trips to this new café and deli, opening in June

The buzz for this one is palpable.
Foodies are already planning their summer spins to Leap after chef Mark Jennings and Sarah Pearce announced the name of their new roadside café and deli in the West Cork village, set to soft launch in June.
Well known in the food community for their Michelin Guide-listed restaurant Pilgrim’s in Rosscarbery, the pair are busy transforming a former bric a brac store in the village into a vibey café and deli they’ll be calling Harnen.
The shop, which was built in the 1950s and will now house a retail store where visitors can pick up delicious treats and pantry staples to take home, as well as the day time café, is named after a common piece of baking apparatus used in pre-industrial Ireland.
“We thought it a fitting enough name to choose.” the Harnen crew shared on social media.

“It harks back to an era when we lived in tune with the land, the food we grew and the importance of good nourishment as a need to survive. In a world of convenience we hope to hold a space where people can come and feel grounded and nourished.
“We will endeavour to use quality Irish flour in our breads and baked goods, cook dishes with a keen seasonal focus on produce and ingredients from our locality. As well as offer basic Irish provisions that will be delicious for you to use at home.”
Work is ongoing at the new café (they’re hiring too if you fancy joining the team) and they hope to have the doors open some time in June.
We’ll be first in line.
