FIRST LOOK: A peek inside the River Club’s new ‘To the Moon’ winter terrace

Fly me to the moon…
The River Club will today launch its ‘To The Moon’ autumn and winter terrace, in partnership with Hendrick’s Gin and Cork’s Fox Flowers.
The luxury location, situated in the River Lee Hotel, is a unique setting where you can enjoy bougie cocktails and beautiful decor, taking in the aesthetic pleasures of the terrace.
The opulence is inspired by early 2oth century decor and boasts model airplanes, antique stargazing tools, moon and star symbols, birdcages, and exotic birds in flight, all adding to the wonder of the experience.
According to those behind the installation, “the focal point of the ‘To The Moon Terrace at The River Club’ is a dramatic cloud of pampas grass and baby’s-breath lit by sparkling lights.”
“Celebrating humankind’s long fascination with sky travel, the cosmos and aeronautical endeavours, ‘To The Moon at The River Club’ focuses on all aspects of the skies and beyond, from the Greek mythological character Icarus to hot-air balloons, the birth of airline travel and the awe-inspiring moon landing to our continued quest and exploration amongst the stars and planets.”
The cocktail menu follows the theme closely, with offerings based around Hendrick’s Lunar Gin, such the ‘Cloud Nine’, the ‘Freefall’, the ‘Moon Mist’ and the ‘Birds of a Feather’.
If the photos below are anything to go by, we’d happily try them all.
€1 from each cocktail sold on the ‘To The Moon at The River Club’ Terrace will go to Blackrock Castle Observatory and the Dark Skies Cork project.
The project is currently working with Dark Skies Europe to raise awareness of light pollution and its effect on nocturnal biodiversity and pollinators, bringing this worthwhile initiative to wider attention, as well as helping create a greater understanding of our awe-inspiring skies and the cosmos.
To The Moon welcomes guests from today and will remain at the River Club until February of next year.
