Finally, a Cork café that’s COMPLETELY devoted to freshly baked scones

They might be Cork’s most controversial baked good.
The perfect scone can be hard to find; many newer cafés have ignored them completely in favour of fancy cruffins and vegan Snickers bars, while the more traditional cafés never seem to have enough.
If you’re tired of arriving at your local coffee shop to the sad sight of an empty scone display, Cork’s newest teashop has the goods and they are plentiful.
Committed to selling Ireland’s best scone, Joey Scones is now open at the Marina Market and their menu is a scone-lover’s dream.
“We use the creamiest of Irish butter, free-range eggs, and whole fresh milk in all of our scones,” they told us.

Using owner Margaret’s time-honoured recipe, the family-run business began in Waterford before making the jump to Leeside this autumn.
And it’s not just the traditional currants/no currants choice either. Joey Scones does a mean apple and cinnamon flavour too, alongside a zingy lemon drizzle, a raspberry, and white chocolate scone and even a savoury cheddar flavour, all €4 including three toppings.
The menu is served with lashings of Barry’s Tea.
Top them with a dollop of fresh cream and a spoon of jam for a treat that will take you back to your childhood in one bite.
