Get on your bike.

Cork Bike Week is set to get underway this Saturday (September 11th), and Cork Sports Partnership has unveiled a whole load of events you can participate in.

Over 170 different events have been announced, including online talks and webinars, with week-long free bike hire available at Youghal Bike Hire and the Midleton Greenway.

Many of the events involve group cycles to scenic destinations, including Courtmac, Mullinavasigh Waterfall, Cobh, Crosshaven, and something called the ‘West Cork Mystery Bicycle Buffet.’ There will also be a parents and toddlers cycle to Lee Fields.

If you’re not especially into biking, there’s an interesting course taking place in Skibberreen — a free taster of adult bike riding lessons, ahead of a new six week programme that begins in October. The taster, which takes place this Saturday, is free.

Other venues will offer free bike safety checks, both of traditional push-bikes and on e-bikes.
